Deacon’s Ministry of Compassion

The Deacons assist Valmont members, friends and the community with emotional, practical, and financial support, including visits, cards, transportation, prayers and monetary gifts.

We visit hospitalized members and prepare and deliver dinners for those needing a little assistance.  We have hosted young people from the Attention Home with a picnic during the summer, helped a single mom move to a new home, delivered donated clothing to Casa Espranza in Longmont, and taken diapers, layette items, toiletries and household supplies to Mother House.

The Caring Basket Program is a joint project of the Deacons and the Valmont Women’s Association; we combine our efforts several months during the year. These efforts have resulted in donations of canned good and laundry detergent to the Sister Carmen Center, toiletry-filled bags to the San Luis Migrant Worker Center, preschool books and school supplies to the San Juan Learning Center, and sheets and layette items to African hospitals.
