The Deacons’ mission is to reach out to Valmont members, friends, and neighbors with friendship, sympathy, and practical support in times of need. This includes card ministry, home visits, transportation, lunch outings, bringing dinners, and ongoing prayer support. We have supported the KYAK ministry in Alaska; the food bank in Louisville when they lost refrigeration; and TGTHR house in Boulder, where the congregation donated Visa card Christmas gifts for homeless young residents. Deacons continue monetary support for Crossroads School in Longmont, a Christian-based school which has been highly successful —inspiring, educating, and graduating students who have struggled in other school settings. Deacons provide an ongoing basket for healthy food donations from the congregation; this is delivered regularly to the “Food Pantry” at Westview Presbyterian Church. Other Deacons’ projects included updating the church photo wall and providing congregation name tags. In 2025, we launched Project “My Story” to encourage members to share their rich personal histories, and to continue to explore our church’s history which includes members who are descendants of East County pioneers.
