Meet the Rev
Let me introduce myself. Most people around Valmont call me the Rev, but I also answer to Stephen.
I'm a second career pastor and have been here at Valmont Church since August 1996. I graduated from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, but fortunately God called me to minister here in the Rockies, where I have lived much of my life. I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, but since my father was a career Air Force chaplain, I did not live in Utah until I returned for college at Utah State University.
Following my graduation, I was commissioned in the Air Force and served for twenty years. Most of that time I worked as an aircraft maintenance officer, and logistics manager.
My wife and I have three adult children - a son living in Brooklyn, New York, a daughter also in New York City and a daughter in Longmont, Colorado.
I believe God has called Valmont to minister in a special way that utilizes the gifts he has given each Valmonter. Our challenge is to be responsive to God's call to us - to minister in Christ's name and share his love - in our family, in our work and in our community.
